Commercial Portable Appliance Test (PAT)

According to the Electricity at Work Regulations 1998, it is the legal responsibility of employers, employees, and self-employed people to undertake a Portable Appliance Test annually to comply with the regulation and ensure the safety of occupants.

The law states that all electrical equipment at the workplace should be in a safe condition. To ensure and maintain the safety of all portable appliances, a PAT is mandatory.

Who Should Get a Commercial PAT?

i) Landlords

Landlords that are renting out their commercial property for business and commercial activities are required by the law to provide a Portable Appliance Test Report to the tenants. It is required to ensure that all the electrical equipment is safe to use. Therefore, we advise you to get PAT conducted BEFORE you rent out your property to a tenant.

ii) Businesses

PAT is a legal requirement for all commercial activities and businesses. Your business insurance might be invalidated without a valid Portable Appliance Test Report.

The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) 1998, all employers in the UK are required to get a PAT test to ensure that the workplace is safe for the employees.
